History of the San Francisco Alumni Chapter

Founded November 13, 1902 The San Francisco Alumni Chapter has a rich history that spans over one hundred twenty years, making it one of the oldest and most esteemed alumni chapters in the country.  The chapter's roots can be traced back to a group of ambitious local brothers Inspired by the values of SIGMA Chi.

We have a rich history of membership including Founder Thomas Cowan Bell, whose Monument resides in the National Cemetary in the Presidio.    Contact Warden Don Copeland if you'd like a host when you visit.

Beyond fostering camaraderie, the Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter has made a significant impact on the Undergraduate community it serves, as well as the brothers' personal impacts in their careers and philanthropies.  The chapter is regularly involved with numerous local undergraduate chapters and International Fraternity programs.

Our members consistently serve as Ritual Peers, Workshop facilitators, UG Chapter Advisors and Advisory committees, Housing Corps, Grand Praetors,  and Foundational Leadership mentors for local undergraduate chapters.   We'd love to help you find your role as part of your lifetime commitment to Sigma Chi.   Some brothers come simply for the social - and that's fine by us.    You find it here.

Our Mission

First and foremost is True Friendship.

To recruit and engage alumni to celebrate values-based brotherhood, assist undergraduate chapters, and serve our International Fraternity's programs.

And to make the  Sigma Chi Fraternity and our alumni chapter more honored by all men and women and more beloved and honestly respected by our own brothers.
